Photo: finished H&E slide, colored-pen bracket shaped marking
(on the glass slide) of cancer foci, fully oriented, allows maximal
presentation of qualitative and quantitative information.
OPTIMIZED HANDLING, CONCLUSIONS:
- Allows exact ID as to which biopsies contain cancer.
- Discern measured cancerous segments and single segment vs.
multi-focal cancer.
- Therefore, one is sure exactly where and how much cancer in
sextant series.
- Taking into account the partly tangential nature of biopty-gun
biopsies, there is still some possible discernment of whether
positivity is toward capsular or non-capsular end of core...could
this speak to the risk of extra-capsular tumor?
