Serum HCG  or beta-HCG testing

Much of the testing for this agent is by EIA methods. There can be false positive elevations.

Situations causing elevated levels:

1. anti-mouse heterophile antibodies present in the patient (human anti-mouse antibodies...HAMA)...consistently elevated¹

2. pregnancy

3. gestational trophoblastic disease
