| Since 1960, there has
been a dazzling and mind-boggling proliferation of diagnostic medical
technology. Of those leaders who can recognize the modern and continuing
great value of human talent, it takes a conscious leadership strategic
decision to take advantage of that talent by good tactical deployment
of it. The philosophy of our group toward the global directorship
as well as directing the components of the Department of Pathology
and Laboratory Medicine at Lexington Medical Center is predicated
on the fundamental importance of the high-quality, talented human
beings involved in that effort.
The microscope image in the left of the header symbolizes the
fact that making judgments and diagnoses by microscopic evaluation
is a human activity and accounts for a great deal of what most
pathologists do.
Three images vary in the right of the header:
This
one shows the pathologist's hand with a scalpel near several specimen
containers. The human element cannot be replaced in anatomic (tissue-based)
pathology; Pathology and Laboratory Medicine practices very widely
in the USA depending on the quality of that human element. This
image denotes anatomic pathology pages.
Another image shows a hand with a pipette near
a rack of test tubes. The human element cannot be replaced in
clinical (lab tests) pathology; Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
practices very widely in the USA depending on the quality of
that human element. This image denotes clinical pathology pages.
The
third image is an emblem of white words (white suggesting revelation…"making
it known") on a black
background (the "unknown"). The caduceus emblem (lower
left) of the medical profession indicates training, skill, and
professionalism. The brain image (lower right) represents focused
and determined intellect. Brain/intellect and professionalism are
over-arched by the positive content of each individual practitioner's
character which then leads to a medical practice of high integrity.
Patients are best served by a Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
operation when it is led/directed by pathologists rich in high-minded
content of character. ent
